Q. How do I know BU NAfME is an organization for me?
A. Our organization is open to anyone interested in music education. You need not be a music education major. (Although, music education majors are very encouraged to join!)
Q. Is there an attendance policy?
A. Currently, no. You will get more out of the organization the more you come, but as of right now, BU NAfME does not require you to come to a certain number of meetings.
Q. When and where do you meet?
A. BU NAfME meets on Friday afternoons between 3:00pm and 4:00pm (depending on our speaker's ability to get to Bradley) in Constance 113. Meetings last anywhere from a half hour to two hours.
Q. Will you ask me for money?
A. The monetary commitment for this organization is relatively low compared to others on campus. We ask that you join NAfME national as a student member (only $28 per year) which gives you all kinds of benefits and even discounts at your favorite stores and restaurants. We ask you buy pizza on your 'pizza day' for the group ($20 at most). This will cover your pizza fee for the entire school year and enables you to enjoy pizza at every NAfME meeting! Our chapter dues are $5 per semester. This money is used solely to purchase thank you cards and small amount gift cards for our seminar presenters.
Q. Will you feed me? 4:00pm is very close to dinner time.
A. YES! As part of your monetary commitment, we ask that you buy pizza once a semester for the group. Everyone buys pizza at least once and you will get fed on Friday afternoons.
Q. Okay, great! This sounds like an organization I want to be a part of. Now what?
A. Awesome! We are very glad you want to be a part of BU NAfME. What you need to do now is follow the steps below.
1. Go to NAfME National (here) and join as a student member. Use your legal name and your BU email address.
2. Write down your membership number! Email that number and the name you used to join NAfME to our president (email address can be found here).
3. Come to meetings. You'll learn a lot, meet people with the same passion for music and education that you have, and have some fun!
